Every Movie I Watched in 2025

2025 has probably one of the most challenging of my adult life. Break ups, panic attacks, depression, an ongoing genocide, amongst the other personal and professional stresses that come with living in a world that feels like its deteriorating in front of our very eyes.

But I guess the one thing that rarely lets me down is cinema. A source of escape and release, comforting me during the good and the bad. Even when a film doesn't do the job for me, I'm grateful that it is an art form that allows for subjectivity, different perspectives, different tastes.

Special mention to the TV shows I caught this year: Andor, The Studio, All Her Fault, Adolescence, The Residence, The Bear, Poker Face, Platonic, Hacks, Mo, No.1 Happy Family USA, Last One Laughing UK and I Love LA.

I was so enthralled by The Celebrity Traitors that I binged-watched every UK and US season (The NZ one didn't do much for me), realising it is a perfect metaphor for our dog-eat-dog world of paranoia and suspicion, fuelled by agents of chaos, in pursuit of capitalist gains.

I also watched eleven seasons of The Walking Dead and its spin-off series when I was in a particular depressive funk. Shout out Daryl and Carol.
